In 2022 on the occasion of the “Documenta 15” event, Luca Rossi organizes a large collective prayer performed by more than 5,000 people at the BergPark in Kassel. A choral ritual in symbiosis with Nature, a prayer integrating Voodoo rituality with that of other religions, so that something meaningful for humanity would happen. Luca Rossi made the ritual accessible to anyone through “live” online streaming, but chose to do so through a sophisticated indexing campaign. All those who searched for information related to “Documenta 15” on Google were actually redirected to the “live” streaming of Lumbung Orationes, thus 290,000 people worldwide were intercepted. In the face of this exceptional event, the audience could simply watch the images on their screen taking note of them, or doubt and disbelief could generate the choice to go further, verifying the real existence of the indicated place, if possible travel to the place, witness the ritual and possibly be part of it. What is real? What is real? Is there a dimension of rituality capable of transcending truth and reality? And again, can collective prayer be the last chance that is given to humanity for a change in the current reality of wars, famine, climate change and wrapped in an endless spiral of violence? “Lumbung Orationes” tells us how in the age of digital life the relationship between the real and the virtual is in constant communication, that the net is what humanity relies on to discover what is happening in the real world and to give value to the real itself. When the digital world deals with the sphere of the transcendental it becomes a conduit for a message that goes beyond the imaginary; a message awaiting an answer, an answer that humanity can wait for or can seek by relying again on the net, as Luca Rossi is doing beginning with the conclusion of the Lumbung Orationes ritual.

By the statements of these days (December 2023) some members of the Documenta 16 committee are dismissing themselves (Vasif Kortun, Manuel Borja Villel) : they accuse an art system that has imploded and only offers ‘decorum’ to politics; they accuse a Documenta 16 management that has political and authoritarian attitudes, restricting the freedom of expression of artists and curators. The letters of resignation seem to refer to Lumbung Orationes, in particular Brancha Lichtenberg Ettinger’s lattera, perhaps we are looking at an early effect of Lumbung Orationes.

Nel 2022 in occasione della manifestazione “Documenta 15”, Luca Rossi organizza una grande preghiera collettiva realizzata da più di 5000 persone al BergPark di Kassel. Un rito corale in simbiosi con la Natura, una preghiera che integra la ritualità Voodoo con quella di altre religioni, affinché avvenga qualcosa di significativo per l’umanità. Luca Rossi ha reso accessibile a chiunque il rituale attraverso una ripresa “live” online, ma ha scelto di farlo tramite una sofistica campagna di indicizzazione. Tutti coloro che cercavano informazioni relative a “Documenta 15” su Google, venivano in realtà reindirizzate sullo streaming “live” di Lumbung Orationes, sono state così intercettate 290.000 persone in tutto il mondo. Di fronte a questo evento eccezionale, il pubblico poteva limitarsi a guardare le immagini sul proprio schermo prendendone atto, oppure il dubbio e l’incredulità potevano generare la scelta di andare oltre, verificando l’esistenza reale del luogo indicato, se possibilitati recarsi sul posto, assistere al rito ed eventualmente farne parte. Cosa è vero? Cosa è reale? Esiste una dimensione di ritualità capace di trascendere verità e realtà? E ancora, può la preghiera collettiva essere l’ultima possibilità che è data all’umanità per un cambiamento dell’attuale realtà fatta di guerre, carestie, cambiamenti climatici e avvolta in una spirale di violenza senza fine? Lumbung Orationes ci racconta come nell’era della vita digitale il rapporto tra reale e virtuale è in continua comunicazione, che la rete è ciò a cui si affida l’umanità per scoprire ciò che accade nel mondo reale e per dare valore al reale stesso. Quando il mondo digitale tratta la sfera del trascendentale diventa tramite di un messaggio che va oltre l’immaginario, un messaggio in attesa di risposta, una risposta che l’umanità può attendere o, come sta facendo  Luca Rossi a partire dalla conclusione del rito di Lumbung Orationes, può cercare affidandosi nuovamente alla rete

Every day from 13 June 2022 at the Bergpark in Kassel, in the heart of Germany, five thousand people perform a great Voodoo prayer. Elements of different religions and a Catholic prayer learned by the artist when he was a child, converge in this collective ritual. The prayer auspicates that something significant will happen to Europe and the world during Documenta 15. Anyone in the world can join in this prayer  (CLICK HERE) and everything  will be documented on a page of this website.

This action will be documented on this site by 5 live streaming cameras. Anyone in the world can join and contribute to the prayer. On this page (support the project) you can receive items at home to join the prayer from around the world.

This is the prayer that the artist learned when he was a child. The prayer has always been effective in the artist’s memory. This prayer was integrated into the collective ritual. Each participant received the text and can use it in the rite:
